Social Media response to oncoming blizzard

Here’s an example how social media can be used to respond to a disaster – in this case, the oncoming #BlizzardOf2015.

FEMA Region 1 created a Twitter “list” – a collection of Twitter feeds – containing official sources from within the storm-warning area.  They sent out a Twitter Alert with a link to the list:

People within the area (or anyone) can “subscribe” to the list, and then easily find it in their own Twitter profile. This is a great way to deliver official information, at least before the Internet is impacted.
